The Staff Selection Commission is the main organization responsible for the conduct of examinations towards recruitment of the eligible candidates in Group ‘B’ and ‘C’ posts of the Ministries and Departments of the Central Government of India. The Staff Selection Commission announces every year through Official Notification on its website for the invitation of candidates in different cadres of services. The Staff Selection Commission is an added wing of the Ministry of Personnel and Training which is formed with sole responsibility of organizing and conducting recruitment exams and interviews for selecting eligible candidates applying to Group ‘B’ and ‘C’ posts in Government Of India.
The Staff Selection Commission conducts a wide range of examinations for various non technical group C and group B posts. The main examinations conducted by the SSC are as follows:
1. Combined Matric Level Examination
2. Combined Graduate Level Examination
3. Section Officer Examination
4. Tax Assistant Examination
5. Central Police Organization Examinations
6. Junior Engineers Civil and Electrical Examinations etc.
Eligibility Criteria for the SSC Examinations:
The candidates in order to participate in the Staff Selection Commission Exam should be either Matriculation/ Intermediate/ Graduation passed as per the requirements of the post applied for by a candidate. Also, the candidate must be an Indian Citizen for being eligible to this post. The candidates must also fulfill the minimum age criteria towards selection for this post. The minimum age should be 18 years and 40 years for all the applicants of SSC. There is also the clause of relaxation in the upper age limit for the deserving candidates as per the rules framed by the government for this purpose.
Pay Scale: Rs.5, 200- Rs.20, 200 (varies with the level of post applied)
Place of Posting: All over India
The candidates can apply in either online or offline modes whichever is easier for them. The online registration can be done from the official website of the SSC by uploading the scanned image of photo and signature of the applicant in the online form available for this purpose. The offline registration can be done through by taking the application forms from any of the centres of examination as well as by downloading it online from the official website of SSC. The form can be filled manually by entering all the necessary details in it and sending it by post to the official address along with all the necessary documents for this purpose.
Application Fee Details:
The candidates can pay the application fee either through the Bank Challan of any Bank attached to SSC or through Net Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card for this purpose. The fee for registration to different posts is different depending on the candidate category.
The exam patterns for the SSC examination are available online at the official website of the SSC for interested candidates to download. The candidates are required to participate in a written exam which is based on the mostly the IQ, General Knowledge, Communication Skill as well as Subject Specific questions aimed at judging the mental awareness as well as subject knowledge levels for this purpose.
The written examination is followed by an Interview or Skill Test depending on the post applied by the candidate.
