WB SET Exam 2013-14
West Bengal College Service Commission is going to conduct 17th SET (State Eligibility Test) for the Librarian and Assistant Professor posts on 15-12-2013. The candidates can apply for the exam till 26-09-2013 if they wish to serve as given designation in the colleges and universities located in the West Bengal.
General and OBC Candidates required securing the minimum 55% or equivalent in the subjects studied in the graduation and post graduation. SC, PD, ST, VI need to get 50% in their post graduation. Appearing students in the qualifying post graduation degree programme can also apply.
There is no age restriction for the SET.
Online Registration: 12 Sep, 2013 to 26 Sep, 2013(up to 12 midnight)
Fee Payment: 16th Sep, 2013 to 30th Sep, 2013
Exam Date: 15 Dec, 2013(Sunday)
Availability of E-Admit Card: 2 weeks prior Exam Date.
Unreserved candidates need to pay Rs 700/- in any branch of the United Bank of India. The Fee is Rs 350/- for the Other Backward, Physically Disabled, Visually Impaired, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students.
Method to Apply:
Candidate need to visit the examinationonline.in/wbcscportal for apply online, there candidate need to complete the details and preserve the printed copy of the application form. The Board will not submit the any hard copy of the application form.
Examination Pattern/ Structure:
The entrance exam will have 3 papers and all f them would be objective in nature. The written test will be organized on 15 Dec, 2013. Total marks covered by all the papers are 350. The categorization is provided below:
Paper1: This paper will consist of total sixty questions and out of all only fifty questions need to attempt by the candidates. The Paper 1 will commence at 9: 30am and end at 10:45am and covers the 100 marks out of total. Each right answer will credit two marks.
Paper2: This comprises fifty of each carries two marks and all are compulsory to attempt. The paper will immediately start as soon as the Paper 1 gets over. The paper duration is 10:45 to 12noon. The paper has weigh age of 100 marks.
Paper3: The paper will start after the gap of 1 and half hour from the paper 2 that is from 1:30 to 4pm. It contains the total 75 questions of 2 marks allotted on each question and all are mandatory. These seventy five questions cover the 150 marks.
Outline of Topics ask in Exam:
Paper 1 will contain the reasoning, teaching aptitude, comprehension, general awareness and logical thinking types questions. Some questions may also be from interpretation of data, numerical ability and computers.
Paper 2 and Paper 3 will have the comprehensive questions from the subjects chosen by candidates for exam for example Education, Chemical Science, Economics, and Sociology etc. this is to note that the complete syllabus of the West Bengal SET is at par with UGC NET course outline.
Process of Selection:
The selection will depend upon the candidate’s overall performance in all the papers as well as individually in each paper. It is required to secure 40% marks in paper 1 & paper 2 and 50% in paper 3(applicable for General Candidates). There is the relaxation in the cutoffs marks for the OBC, PD, ST and SC students.
The preparation of merit will be done in keeping the thorough performance of candidates in all the papers and out of total passed candidates only top fifteen % shall be declared qualified for the SET.
