UPSC CDS Exam 2015 

UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) CDS (Combined Defense Services) Examination II is being conducted this year on 1st of November, 2015. Candidates who wish to be a part of the defence services (Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers’ Training Academy) can apply for this examination through online mode on or before 14th of August, 2015. Other details regarding the examination ate given as under :


Specifics of the UPSC CDS Exam 2015 :

Examination Name- UPSC CDS Examination 2015

Age Block- Age limit for candidates applying for the concerned examination are as follows-

i). Naval Academy : 19 year to 22 years
ii). Air Force Academy : 19 years to 23 years
iii). Indian Military Academy : 19 years to 24 years
iv). Officer’s Training Academy : 19 years to 25 years

Academic Eligibility-

1). For Indian Military Academy & Officers’ Training Academy : Candidates must possess a Degree from reputed University or any other equivalent qualification.

2). For Naval Academy : Candidates must possess B.Sc. degree with Mathematics & Physics or Bachelor of Engineering.

3). For Air Force Academy : Candidates must possess B.Sc. degree with Physics and / or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering.

Pattern of Examination-

1). Officers Training Academy : The  question paper is of 200 marks. The question paper is divided into 2 sections, namely English and General Knowledge. Each section carries 100 marks and objective type questions are asked in the question paper. Additional 200 marks are for SSB Interview.

2). Indian Military Academy, Air Force Academy & Naval Academy :  The  question paper is of 300 marks. The question paper is divided into 3 sections, namely English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. Each section carries 100 marks and objective type questions are asked in the question paper. Additional 300 marks are for SSB Interview.

Eligible candidates can apply by submitting their applications as per the details mentioned din the official notification.  Contenders must visit the official website of UPSC regularly for any updates regarding the UPSC CDS Exam 2015.

Age Group- For Course 1 & 2 applicants should have been born between 2nd of January, 1992 to 1st of January, 1997, for Course 3 applicants should fall within the age group of 20 yrs to 24 yrs as on 1st of January, 2016 and for Course 4 & 5 applicants should have been born between 2nd of January, 1991 to 1st of January, 1997.

Recruitment Process- Selection of jobseekers will be made on the basis of Officer Intelligence Rating, Picture Perception Description Test, Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and Conference, Medical Examination and Written Examination.

Pattern of Written Examination- Written Examination question paper comprises of Objective Type questions and duration of each subject examination is 2 hours. Question paper for Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy courses will include questions from English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics. Question paper for Officer’s Training Academy courses will include questions from English and General Knowledge. Questions of General Knowledge and Elementary English will be in English and Hindi both.

A. For Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy courses :

1. English : 100 marks (2 Hours)
2. General Knowledge : 100 marks (2 Hours)
3. Elementary Mathematics : 100 marks (2 Hours)

B. For Officer’s Training Academy course :

1. English : 100 marks (2 Hours)
2. General Knowledge : 100 marks (2 Hours)

Syllabus of Written Examination-

1. English paper will include questions based on understanding of English and workmanlike usage of words.

2. General Knowledge paper will include questions from current events, Indian History, Geography, etc.

3. Elementary Mathematics paper will include questions from Arithmetic, LCM, HCF, Geometry, Trigonometry, Algebra, etc.

Contender who qualifies the written examination is shortlisted for Intelligence and personality test / Interview.

Application Cost- Aspirants need to pay Rs.200 as application cost by depositing it in any SBI (State Bank of India) branch by cash or by Internet Banking through State Bank of India, State Bank of Mysore / Bikaner & Jaipur / Travancore / Patiala or by using Debit / Credit Card. SC / ST / Female applicants are not liable to pay the application cost.

Application Methodology :

Interested aspirants can apply for the specified posts through UPSC’s official web portal : upsconline.nic.in . Aspirants should visit the website and click ‘Online Application for Various Examinations of UPSC’. Contenders should complete ‘PART-I Registration’ by filling all the required details and then complete the ‘PART-II Registration’ by paying the application cost. Contenders should submit the application within the scheduled date and time.
