IES Syllabus 2014-15 Exam Pattern

IES (Indian Economic Services) examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission every year. In 2014, the examination will be held on 24th May. It is but obvious that the candidates who seek to qualify this exam must need the detailed topics of the paper so that they can make tight preparation for qualifying this exam. Get more update on . Well, it is worth mentioning here that the Notification for this exam will be out on 08th of February, 2014 and last date of applying is 10th of March, 2014.

Selection Criteria of IES Exam:

Written Examination carrying 1000 marks

Viva Voce carrying 200 marks

Syllabus of IES:

1. General English: Basic Grammar Knowledge and Essay Writing Etc. 

2. General Studies: History, Geography, Political Science, Constitution of India, Current Affairs and Awareness Etc.

3. General Economics- I: 

PART A:  Theory of Consumer’s Demand, Theory of Production, Theory of Value, Theory of Distribution, Welfare Economics. 

PART B:  Quantitative Methods in Economics (Mathematical Methods in Economics, Statistical & Econometric Methods)

4. General Economics- II: Economic Thought, Concept of National Income and Social Accounting, Theory of Employment, Output, Inflation, Money and Finance, Financial and Capital Market, Economic Growth and Development, International Economics, Balance of Payments, Global Institutions.

5. General Economics- III: Public Finance, Environmental Economics, Industrial Economics, State, Market and Planning.

6. Indian Economics: History of Development and Planning, Federal Finance.

The level of questions would be of Post graduation level, so candidate should refer the authentic book of concerned subjects.
